St. Georges Basin

St. Georges Basin, south coast NSW, small loadbearing studio.

Measuring approx. 18 square metres plus some loft space, this studio has been constructed using the loadbearing method. Sitting on strip footings and bottom plate system, the bales have been placed on edge. The roof construction and sheeting have been recycled from a shed that had been on site, doors and windows were purchased second hand.

During a three day rendering working bee second and thrid coat of clay render were applied.

Ready for the finish colour coat.

The colour coat, or top coat, has been completed to a smooth finish using a light coloured clay supplied by us. For this particular building we have not been using a lime render finish, it's all clay. External walls will be painted with a vapour permeable silicate paint to provide protection from the elements.

Application of third coat is done by the volunteers of the working bee, they have done a fantastic job.
